Embodiment of Intensity Semantics in the Phraseological Units with Numerical Component

Abstract

The article considers the phenomenon of intensity semantics and its manifestation in the phraseological units with numerical component. The author offers interesting ideas concerning the interpretation of intensity semantics in the phraseological units with numerical component. Numerical component is considered as a means of creating intensity semantics in the phraseological units of the Ukrainian language. The emphasis is laid on the phraseological units with numerical components of the first dozen, in particular those with figurative meaning of the quantitative characteristics. The folklore basis of numerical names and structural representation of the analyzed units are revealed in the article.
