Abstract

One of the important tasks of modern linguistic stylistics is the study of publicist texts, which provide not only relevant information, but also catalyze the author's implicit worldview. The article highlights the issue of linguostylistic content of D. Dontsov's works, laying emphasis on the study of antonyms. It has been revealed that antonymy in the works of a thinker is often an author's innovation that manifests its specificity only in a certain semantic environment. The antonyms used in D. Dontsov’s works make the texts expressive, figurative, argumentative, and emotional. The stylistic significance of antonymy is obvious.

The study findings prove that antonyms are an effective means of actualizing the statement and enhancing the semantic effect of the words used. Antonyms directly or indirectly show the author's attitude to reality, reproduce his intentions, and allow introducing the thoughts of other authors into the structure of the text. The vertical division of the text language is revealed through dialect lexemes. Dialectisms, used as antonyms to commonly used words, show the ancient roots of the Ukrainian language, and stylistically reinforce what is being said. The originality of the publicistic style is reinforced by antonyms connected with the military aspect of life, which underpin the political postulates of a great journalist.

Antonyms are important for the lexical-stylistic content of the text. Each antonym pair convinces of the correctness of D. Dontsov's thoughts. The stylistic dexterity of the thinker is conveyed by antonymy based on intertextuality, which allows a reader to recall the quotations from the Bible, the aphorisms of H. Skovoroda, I. Kotliarevsky, and others. The antonymy in D. Dontsov's works provides additional information to what is described. It is a powerful factor of emotional and expressive influence on the reader and clarifies changes in the social and political situation.
