Epistolary and Scientific Publicistic Context of Lesya Ukrainka’s Views on Language as the Code of National Being.
Abstract
«While Lesya Ukrainka’s mother was using all means to make her a Ukrainian writer, her uncle was doing everything possible for her to become a worthy personality and a fighter. Her mother gave her body and uncle gave her the spirit that is as adamant as steel and as turbulent as a tempest… Lesya Ukrainka’s critical attitude towards archaic, national holiness, her europeism, her treatment of the national issues within the scope of the international ones – all these are the fruit of Dragomanov’s teaching…» (M.Drai Khmara). The upbringing in the Ukrainian spirit, her nonperception of the khutor points of view on the literary language, her conviction of the necessity to ensure «the wide flow of the unrestrained speech» is just not merely a bight but realized consolidation of the Ukrainian language in the European area. Hence under the present conditions the Ukrainian language functioning there are all reasons to consider Lesya Ukrainka’s as a most modern writer.
Key words: spirituality of the nation, human values, code, of the national being, Ukrainian reality, europeism, context.
